“Chiaramonte beat out former Sarasota County Administrator Jim Ley for the TBARTA position. Chiaramonte said he doesn’t know what his salary will be yet because his contract is still to be negotiated. As the head of the transportation authority, Chiaramonte will again be involved in transportation planning, but this time on a regional basis. The agency was created by the Florida Legislature in 2007 to draw up a master transportation plan for a seven-county, west-central Florida region.
