Tampa to spend $1.35 million to create downtown train horn ‘quiet zone’

“Once the crossings are enhanced, CSX engineers will be able to travel through downtown without blasting their horns to warn motorists of their approach. Without a quiet zone, federal transportation rules require engineers to sound the horns 15 to 20 seconds before they reach a public crossing.” See More . . .
