Tampa all ready to synchonize its traffic lights

“The MPO went to the Florida Department of Transportation seeking funding for the project. The state DOT will provide 80 percent, using federal funding for the software system, fiber optics and other equipment, with Tampa contributing 20 percent. . . . . In the past, the same pot of federal funding has been used to widen Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and 40th Street, Alden said.
